Couch Fix

I love my sweet furbaby Elvira, and she has minimal cat habits that drive me crazy (minimal hair balls, little shedding thanks to her furminator, never goes outside her litter box or leaves surprises in laundry/shoes), but she really went to town on our couch arms. I’m super embarrassed by the damage she’s done, but to be fair the couch is the perfect kind of material that cats like, so nothing has worked to deter her. No-scratch sprays are a joke and squirting her with a water bottle isn’t a permanent solution.

She now wears little kitty cat caps on her nails after I trim them, so the scratching doesn’t do further damage, but I wasn’t sure what to do with the arms afterwards. I finally took some gold fabric leftover from a dress I made last winter and covered them up! I might do something different in the future if I see some fabric I like better, but it looks so much cleaner and nicer now.

This was Mark and mine’s first big purchase together for the apartment, so I want to make it last as long as I can. It’s a little older in style, but maybe one day I’ll be able to get the whole thing recovered to match whatever my style evolves into… OR if we go the less sentimental route and sell it on Craigslist, we’ll be able to get more money out of it. In the meantime, this will do for the arms and I’m gonna get some new pillows to update it a little bit.
