Animu I Love You

I’m having a night-in drinking Jam Jar and watching a bunch of my manfriends play Risk Legacy, so I figured this would be a great time to talk about anime and how much I love it even as an adult.

Kekeke

I loved anime before I even knew what it was. Sometimes I worry that this should have rubbed off by the time I reached adulthood, but luckily I’ve been coddled by a group of friends that are just as enthusiastic about it. I used to wonder if I could reconcile it with growing up, as if holding onto it would somehow impede me from being successful. I realize now that it was stupid to worry about it.

Even though I have new adult friends who probably hear the word anime and feel second-hand embarrassment for me, it doesn’t bug me like I thought it would. Anime is important to me. I’ve found a wealth of friendship in fun, intelligent people who also love it, and I hope everyone gets a chance at some point to enjoy it with an open mind.

This Jam Jar wine is really good.

Because everyone cares, these are my top five favorite animes forever and ever. And one really good manga for fun.

I don’t even know where to begin with each of these series. I think people who are unfamiliar with anime and manga don’t realize the wide range of themes and styles they take on, and I think they would be surprised at the adult themes involved.  All of these are visually inspirational to me, and I cannot explain how thrilled I am that both NGE and Berserk are going through film relaunches.

Touching on each of these is a task for another day, because frankly I’m not prepared to delve into each one, but if you haven’t seen/ read one of these, I highly recommend each and every one of them.

I just tried to do a synopsis of each and either this Jam Jar is getting to me or I’m just overwhelmed by how AWESOME they are, so the least I can do is link you to some wikis.

Basically, I just want to make it clear that I love me some good anime and I’m a fully functional adult. If you see me watching the new Berserk movie when it comes out, you better not ask me if I’m watching Pokemon.
