I’ve grown to love red lips so much, but I’m always buying reds that end up being pinker than I’d like. This one is really red like the name implies. I’m still looking for that perfect rose petal red, but this is damn close.
The staying power is good since it’s a matte, and like most mattes it’s a little drying but nothing to cry about. It’s made its way into my regular rotation after debating over buying it for months.
I hate hate hate taking up close pictures of my mouth, but I wanted you to see the sparkles. I’m doing this for you.
Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in True Red & Butter London Lippy Gloss in Chancer
Right about the time I got this glitter lip gloss and thought about this review, there was a really nice tutorial for a bolder glitter lip at The Beauty Department, so there go my big plans on being original. Mine uses a lipgloss that already has red glitter in it, so it’s a little bit simplified.
As you can see, the glitter is actually pretty subtle, but it’s festive and fun and I love it despite my usual aversion to glittery lipsticks/eye shadows/etc. Now, it doesn’t have a lot of longevity. The lipgloss kind of breaks down the lipstick so the color doesn’t last terribly long, but I haven’t tried this with a longer lasting red lip stain or something like that. This is just fun and I like it, plus with a kissy romance centered holiday around the corner, why not feature some more lip love.
On an unrelated note, I love this shirt I’m wearing. It’s the Portofino Shirt from Express. I’ll have to do a post for it because it’s soft and I love that it has a contrast collar. They have it in a bunch of colors, but this was my favorite.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done swatches, so I wanted to do a more official spread of my beloved NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. I started with San Paulo and showed it off in this post, but I finally took some pictures in better light so it reflects the actual color. And look who wandered in while I was shooting photos? My sweet kitty baby Elvira. Lookit that big mean face. She’s really a big cuddle bug.
I am not doing a very good job of drinking enough water when it’s as hot as it is, so these matte creams can dry out my lips a little bit, but I’ve been exfoliating them and using lots of lip balm so I can still enjoy them. Pleeease let this heat end.
